The table tennis brands rarely come out with balsa blades these days. The soft feel of balsa can now be achieved with Hinoki blades, may be that is the reason. The balsa blades are brittle and it’s solid structure vanish slowly after some months of use. All blades change it’s characteristics after a while in that sense. The players who depend on speed rarely notice the change in their equipment.

Dr.Neubauer Firewall Plus balsa blade is a favorite blade of mine. It’s soft feeling and speed is good for a modern defensive player. That is not the case with JUIC Stellan Bengtsson. The JUIC Stellan Bengtsson is an OFF- blade and is faster for a close to the table game. Though Stellan claims it is good for long pips rubbers, the players who play close to the table and play chop blocks will be disappointed. One must play several feet away from the table to take advantage of it’s speed.

I have used TIBHAR Dtech with this blade, and found the ball wobbles a great deal. The speed makes the ball float a lot. Unlike Dr.Neubauer which is more controllable and can generate spin, the Stellan Bengtsson blade can generate speedy, floating balls.

The JUIC Stellan Bengtsson blade is suitable for offensive players who need feeling. It is not suitable for long pips players who depend on chops but suitable for players who would like to hit with pips. The blade is very stable and has no vibration. The blade weigh 76gm compared to Dr.Neubauer Firewall Plus which weigh 66gm.
