Stiga Tube Defensive

Stiga Tube Defensive

The Stiga Tube Defensive blade is a very light weight blade weighing 78gm. This is due to the way it is constructed. The handle is hollow, and that improves the feeling. An year ago I tried the Stiga Carbon WRB and the handle is pretty much the same. I really liked it’s handle as it is very comfortable in my small hand.

The Stiga Tube Defensive is a close to mid distance the table blade. I tried Butterfly Tenergy 25 on it’s forehand and Armstrong Twister on the backhand. I did not like the way Butterfly Tenergy 25 on the forehand as the blade can’t hold heavy rubbers like Butterfly Tenergy. The blade lacks power, so have to generate the power from the hand. There is one blade that comes in the same power range is TSP BalsaFiber 2.5.

I expected the Twister would behave well on the Stiga Tube Defensive. Because of the blade’s energy absorption, the ball gets more slower with less deception. The blade has little high high throw like Tibhar Stratus. The throw helps two wing choppers.

The Stiga Tube Defensive can’t put power to spin the ball well from far. On the table looping was okay - loop the ball as soon as the ball rises. Sure, this blade is good for hitting.

I did not notice any vibration of the blade. As I said before, the blade lacks power so I recommend this to a defender rather than a modern defender who need more power from the blade.

If you are looking for a lighter blade for a defensive game, this is appropriate for you. Try lighter rubbers on this blade. Use your forearm for more power if you are attacking. Happy chopping!

I’m using this blade around one month, my play style is mid-far distance from the table and mainly backhand chop, forehand side chop and and drive. Backhand rubber is Tibhar grass Dtec’s 1.2mm, forehand rubber is ternergy 05 max, this is very nice combination to play defensive chop and powerful drive attacking. Feeling and sensitivity also satisfied for me, it serves good dwell time and high spine against the back spine ball. Before I have used defensive NCT, I had more over-missed with that blade. I’d like to try Joo Se Hyku blade later.
