If I don’t write little about Donic Akkadi L2, I should not be writing about any long pips at all. The DONIC Akkadi L2 is very powerful defensive long pips. It has very less friction. I can say it is close to a frictionless long pips rubber. The pips are not highly flexible as TTMaster Punto. The pips are very similar to Yasaka Phantom. The Donic Akkadi L2 is similar to TTMaster Selection long pips rubber. The players who like natural rubber, they would like TSP Curl P-H. All these rubbers come with very similar construction. The TTMaster Selection has little more wider pips.

Speed

In the speed rating, the DONIC Akkadi L2 is surely faster. A close to the table player who plays frictionless pips style game, should try this on a slower blade. I tried Donic Akkadi L2 on Darker Legato Allround blade. On the same blade, TTMaster Selection is slow. Still slower is TTMaster Punto and TSP Curl P-H.

Reversal

The DONIC Akkadi L2 is a very dangerous rubber. It can impart heavy backspin on top spin. This is also a curse when you play against underspin. The TSP Curl P-H does not reverse backspin to make it dangerous for a hit from your opponent. The TTMaster Punto does crazy stuff when playing against underspin.

Pushes

The DONIC Akkadi L2 is good in pushing against underspin. The TSP Curl P-H shines very well in this area.

Away from the table Chop

I love it’s excellent ability to generate heavy underspin against top spin. The chopping against top spin shots having less spin is a disaster. Since DONIC Akkadi L2 does not have much friction to grab the ball. The TSP Curl P-H is excellent for this kind of shots.

Heavy Knuckle Balls

I have seen some deadly and heavy knuckle balls coming from DONIC Akkadi L2. They are dangerous. Second to this is TSP Cur P-H. The TTMaster Selection is next to that.

Right Blade

I have tried DONIC Akkadi L2 on a Darker Legato ALL blade. I did not like much of its performance like TSP Curl P-H. I would choose a blade that can generate high loops over the net to go with DONIC Akkadi L2.

Who should use it?

If you are very high level player and play against top spin players, this is a very good rubber. This rubber also suits long pips player who play very close to the table. Such kind of players should choose a slower defensive blade, and also the blade can make high over the net.

Fabian Akerstrom Vs Dimitri Ovtcharov

Fabian Akerstorm uses DONIC Akkadi L2.

Have you tried it with a thin sponge (0.6mm)? I know Fabian plays with sponge. However, I think it’s quite odd since he mostly blocks and a sponge should make the LP more grippy and spin sensitive.
