Re-Impact Achim Select M3

Re-Impact Achim Select M3

A week ago I have called up Achim Rendler to talk. Did I humiliate him or he has to humiliate me? Achim knows me for a while and we have exchanged ideas of blades. The chemistry that did not connect both of us was the language. He does not speak English well and I can speak German to almost zero. Achim is one of the best blade manufactures in the world right now.

Few months ago, Achim has sent me demo blade of Re-Impact Achim Select M3. I have had a chance to test this blade only yesterday. I’m not that expert on various woods Achim uses in his blades, but I think the wood being used in this Re-Impact Select M3 is alder or koto on the forehand and balsa on the backhand. I’m not sure about the outer layer that rests on the balsa on the backhand side.

The Re-Impact Achim Select M3 table tennis blade comes in various sizes and handles. What I have tried is the medium size blade with propeller handle.

The Re-Impact Achim Select M3 has medium-hard feeling unlike the other balsa blades I have tried like Dr.Neubauer Combination Effect which has a very soft feeling. I have tried Butterfly Tenergy 25 and XIOM ZETA European on the forehand. On my backhand I have tried TSP Curl P3AlphaR, TSP Curl P1R and TSP Curl PH.

The Re-Impact Achim Select M3 is a combination blade with faster forehand and slower backhand. Except the TSP Curl PH on the backhand, I could not find much speed difference with other TSP curl pips that I have tried. With the Dr.Neubauer Combination Effect paddle, I could see a speed difference, but not with Re-Impact Achim Select M3.

The Re-Impact Achim Select M3 is an ALL blade. I have not liked the Butterfly Tenergy 25 on its forehand. I liked the XIOM ZETA European better on Re-Impact Achim Select M3. The forehand of Re-Impact Achim Select M3 has faster rebound, so my loops jumps out faster before I could spin it. I have not hard the problem with XIOM ZETA -  there was little more contact time I have noticed because of the soft sponge of XIOM ZETA European. Comparing to Dr.Neubauer Combination Effect paddle, the Re-Impact Achim Select M3 generates more spin. That’s the likable part of this blade.

Among the various TSP Curl series rubbers that I have tried on Re-Impact Achim Select M3, I have felt the TSP Curl p1r is the right combination rubber. Sadly, the frictionless pips players will be disappointed by any kind of spin reversal that they can get out of this combination. I have felt more chopping effect with its backhand. The blocks even have enough looping arc to drop it on the other side of the table. Re-Impact Achim Select M3 has little higher throw angle comparing with Dr.Neubauer Combination Effect.

With the combination of rubbers that I have tried, I feel this blade helps long range chops and top spin game.

Within few weeks, I would test this blade with Dr.Neubauer A-B-S Anti special. I feel like this blade can work with anti rubbers.

So tune-in shortly to read the testing of Re-Impact Achim Select M3 with anti rubbers
