The ITTF has become tough on equipment rules this year. Cleaning the table tennis rubber with any kind of ready made solution has become risky as that can be considered as manipulating the rubber’s original characteristics. The players use rubber cleaning solutions, cleaner forms etc… to remove the dust off from the rubber. There are friction boosting solutions like Spinmax are being used by players. Some use WD-40, orange juice, marker-pen eraser and many other crazy stuff.

The solutions said above help to keep the rubbers going for many months. The new generation tensor rubbers don’t require any of these solutions. Rather, those solutions destroy them. The best solution to clean the rubber is aqua - nothing but clean water.

It is required to clean the rubber with water many times we can. Keeping a spray bottle with purified water will be convienient - don’t use tap water.

I carry a small bottle of Evian Mineral Water spray. It is expensive compared to water - an extreme make up for a rubber.
