The US Open Table Tennis 2008 Men’s championship goes to Chen Weixing, the Joola sponsored player, once ranked 10 th in the world and now the 37 th player in the world. The Women’s championship goes to Gao Jun of America.

Just imagine this. You are put a in a cage, locked up and asked you to escape. It is difficult to escape, and that’s what I have seen in the games between Chen Weixing and others. Thomas Keinath whom my wife has supported all the while wanted me to support him in the final also. I have told her, it is very hard for Thomas to win or at least take a game out of Chen. Thomas could not execute Chen’s chops well, and he struggled. With a 4-0 loss, Thomas gave the salute to Chen Weixing as the best chopper and looper the world seen.

After this tournament, I have raised my rating to 1786 from 1736. I had some good games against 2000 rated players. This is the first USATT sactioned tournament that I have played with a friction long pips. Unlike in the previous tournaments, I have played more forehand this time. However it was not successful though. The XIOM True Innovation Asian version on the Joola Chen Weixing blade did not give good control for top spin loop. Still I survived with my long pips. I have played against a 1650 player who has long pips on one side and very dead rubber on the forehand - the rubber is many years old. I have played against a young boy. He was not that interested to play, but played because of his parents interest.

The second day matches were interesting. I have played against the owner of Bumpernet. He uses short pips on both the sides of the blade. The game was fun as he was self-coaching him after each and every point.
